Our Mission: All students deserve the right to explore, based upon their own dreams, ideas, passion areas, and ambitions.
• All students deserve the right to explore, based upon their own dreams, ideas, passion areas, and ambitions. Royal Academy provides an educational alternative that focuses on the intellectual, emotional, and spiritual development of its students by creating programs which consider personal strengths, weaknesses, learning styles, and goals.
• The Royal Academy staff recognizes that parents, family members, and mentors are essential to each student’s program. To that end, a system of support is initiated and maintained through regular involvement of all participants with the supervisory teacher, director, and staff.
• Royal Academy works with families here and abroad to provide educational experiences that encourage children to strive for the best. We work with our students to develop the additional courses needed for college entrance requirements and career preparation.

PROGRAM DETAILS (All grades K - 12): The Royal Academy program is individually designed around the strengths, interests, and unique qualities of each student and their family.
• Parents choose Royal Academy because they desire an educational experience which encourages and stimulates their children to strive for the best in all areas of academic life. Students appreciate this solid program because it gives them the opportunity to explore personal interest areas in-depth.
to top
The goal of Royal Academy is to meet the learning needs of the child.
• To facilitate this, a detailed questionnaire is filled out by the parents and, at the high school level, by the student. Along with former transcripts and educational records, information is analyzed to help determine the student’s learning style, strengths and areas of weakness. Then follows an interview and consultation session during which a program is designed to fit the student. Textbooks and other learning materials are recommended from a wide variety of fine resources. Curriculum design also includes project learning, specially designed unit studies, independent study, field trips and community activities. Organizational goals and an estimated timeline are determined which allows the student to move at his/her own pace through the year. The program remains dynamic and flexible as progress is discussed and reviewed quarterly.
to top
Families are helped in their planning not just for the immediate school year, but also for the future.
• High school students are kept informed about college requirements, current college admission procedures, workforce issues and military enlistment. Student goals and aspirations are extremely important and we encourage the students to delve into interest areas, work-study opportunities, apprenticeships, volunteer services and mentorships. A well-rounded individual is better equipped to make informed decisions involving career and post-high school academics.
to top
Credit Is Granted for Previous Work Completed .
• Credit is granted for previously completed work in specific academic areas. The criteria to earn credits are flexible and recognize that the student may already have much knowledge in a particular subject and may want to further the study in that area.
Enrollment and quarterly consultations are conducted at Royal Academy. For those families who live a distance from the school, telephone consultations are convenient. Becauseof the great variance in telephone service fees, parents are requested to use their own private carrier. These costs are not included in tuition.

Read what parents and students say about their experience with Royal Academy.
• "I have already been approved and will be taking classes for an Associate of Arts with a major in Psychology. I hope to take that degree and apply it to a B.A. in the same field at George Mason University as the two schools work closely together.
I attended the University of New Hampshire for a year and a half before moving to Virginia and will be apply some of those credits to my degree at NVCC.
Thank you so much for your help! The two years I had with Royal Academy continue to be an asset in everything I do from applying to school to building my resume. Having that opportunity opened many doors educationally and changed my path in life for the better." ~ Sarah, New Hampshire

• I cannot thank you enough for your support of J. It had been my intent since his birth to home school him, but after becoming a single parent I just did not see how that would work. I hope you realize that you have single-handedly saved a bright, wonderful young man from becoming just another statistic as I feel sure he would have dropped out of school without your support and caring. ~ Andrea, ME

• It is so awesome to see her "REALLY" challenged and rising to the call. I still can't believe how much a year and half could change someone so drastic, but with Allie, it is like two different people. I don't think I'll ever be able to truly put into words the way you have helped US grow. She in her skill and confidence and me in feeling I could really do it. I was a special needs child all my life and learning was always very difficult. When I started thinking of home schooling all I thought of was there was no way I was smart enough. In reality that is true, but with the right motivation and an excellent teacher guiding me... God binding us all together, miracles really can happen. Next year will bring a lot more changes once I add Angela to the mix, who has no special needs and will probably be teaching me in a couple years. But I have faith that if God is leading me then he is also paving the way for the right people and events to bring success. Thanks again for all your support and help. ~ In HIS name ~ Linda, MA

• "We are so VERY VERY grateful for you and the Royal Academy because you made it possible for Jesse to actually enjoy school by adapting it to his needs and learning style - not to mention graduate! I really don't think that we would have been able to drag him through public school!" ~ Cathy and Dave, MA

• "Thanks for your support, concern, encouragement and love for Adam. You are an extended part of Adam's and my family – it's a "warm fuzzy" to know that you are there. Thanks again for all that you've given to Adam and the family. I'll always cherish that special graduation on June 4th of 2004. Assuring you and your good "persons" of my humble prayers and with every best success! ~ Sincerely yours in Christ, Geraldine B., Lewiston, ME."

• "Well, where do I start? Being acquainted with all of you over the past 5 years (or so) has been absolutely vital to the well-being of the G. family’s homeschooling experience. Oh, how I recall the insecurities I brought with me the first time I stepped foot into your offices! God (and I and all of you) have been faithful in our paths to better understanding of each other, ourselves and our children. I offer my most heartfelt gratitude for ALL each of you has done in taking the form of God and holding my hand, allowing our frustrations to spew forth and still loving us in the process." ~ Paula G., Gorham, ME

• "We appreciate your support to allow Ann to finish her high school career at Royal Academy. Homeschooling would not have been an option during this critical time without the support and guidance of Royal Academy." ~ Jo C, Scarborough, ME

• "C. is progressing wonderfully! She is learning math concepts and retaining them. She is working much more independently and is gaining self-confidence every day. We think that she has learned more in the last 4 months than in 4 years of public school." ~ Cathy and Tim B., Wells, ME

• "I graduated from Royal Academy in June of 1998. I was just looking over your web site and I wanted to thank everyone there for making my last years in high school the best. I will always treasure the experience of my homeschooling years. It was the best decision I ever made. I 'm now a junior at Southern Illinois University studying Social Work." ~ Rebecca Yates, Illinois, Class of ‘98.

• "Just want to encourage you to explore Royal Academy. We have tried other curriculum and looked into many different schools and I found I was trying to fit my child into a curriculum rather than choosing the curriculum to meet the needs of each of my children. We are having great success in learning with the assistance of the teachers at Royal, as well as the hope to attain a diploma one day." ~ L.R., Quebec, Canada

• "We have used Royal Academy for the last 4 years. I would step out there and say they are by far the highest of the highest moral character and integrity of ANY service you can find in the national homeschooling community. I would not trust my child’s education, transcripts and diplomas to anyone more than them. Not only are they of the highest standard and are accepted at all the military branches and the majority of colleges, on the personal level, they are the most supportive and upright persons to call upon when things get rough. My husband has been away from our family due to military obligations and when needed, I had backup in ways that kept my kids on tractk through their high school struggles and even now when facing an overseas move. MORE than that, my kids love and trust what the supervisory teachers have to say to them. THIS IS SO IMPORTANT! The standard during the teen years needs to be reinforced as much as possible by parents, but when the doubts set in that mom or dad are just a little crazy in their standards and expectations, it is nice to have some back-up from an outside source that the children themselves know is sound judgement. I will greatly miss knowing that they are just down the road, although even from across the world, I am sure I will feel supported and cared about … that’s just the way they are at Royal Academy" ~ C and R C., stationed overseas

• "I can’t believe that high school is over. It’s been one tough experience fitting two years of schooling into one school year. I really didn’t know what to expect when I started schooling at home. At first I missed the social life of a public school, but once I realized how much more I could accomplish in a day it was all worth it! Knowing I could stay home and do my school work relieved me of the pressures that a public school put on my education. I could actually sit down and read a book and not have to worry about being disturbed by other classmates while I was in the middle of a sentence. I have really enjoyed sharing this experience with my parents and both of you and encourage it to other people who are interested in learning with a brighter outlook on their education." ~ E. Hutchins, Class of ‘97
